TOWN OF RICHMOND

Developers wanted to locate a high pressure gas pipeline through the Berkshires town of Richmond, Massachusetts to serve a gas-fired power plant in the city of Pittsfield. The pipeline would have dramatic adverse environmental and land use impacts on scenic roads, agricultural land, wells and septic systems, among other things. The Town Administrator approached BCK to ask for help in rerouting the pipeline.

WASHINGTON ELECTRIC CO-OP

WEC provides access to electric power and energy-related products and services for area residents and its communities, through a consumer-owned and locally-controlled cooperative business. It was one of two utilities in Vermont that was able to completely divest of energy coming from the Vermont Yankee Nuclear Plant. WEC had a mission to now invest in renewable energy as a key part of its portfolio, but needed help.
